Yes, you read that right, I’m into week 39 and still waiting….I feel like 8 months flew by and now that I’m in the home stretch, the days just drip by. We have our hospital bags packed, the carseat ready in the car, the nursery is completed, we’ve picked a pediatrician, all newborn clothes, blankets, etc. have been washed. We’re ready. This isn’t a formal bumpdate, just a recap of what we’ve been doing as we patiently (or impatiently) await to meet our little man!
I had an appointment on Monday, and while I was not dilated, the doctor could feel his head and said he is super low! My belly measured on track, his heartbeat was great, my blood pressure was perfect and my urine sample was fine too. I had quite a few Braxton Hicks-like contractions while with the doctor so she said now we just need my brain and body to communicate to each other and kick those contractions into high gear! I felt much more hopeful walking away from that appointment that this really could happen today or tomorrow….ekkk!! We are thinking maybe Friday could be the “big day” as there is going to be a triple treat in the sky: lunar eclipse, comet and full moon!
One of my last minute tasks was to make a few goodies bags for our labor and delivery nurses. I used to work in the medical sales industry and I remember nurses getting very excited when I dropped off snacks and treats. So, I got each one a little Valentine’s box of chocolates, trail mix, jolly ranchers, chapstick, individual powered drink mixes, and a Starbucks gift card. I figure with all the attention they will hopefully be giving me and baby boy, I should at least do a little something for them!
As I mentioned before, the nursery is complete…we are as ready as we can be at this point! All we need is our little man! 🙂
I am proud to say I made the captain’s wheel and sailboat canvases myself during this downtime!
I hope you all have a wonderful rest of your week. My next post will be announcing the little guy’s arrival and telling you all about our labor and delivery! Please keep us in your prayers for a smooth and safe delivery, a healthy momma and baby, and a not too frightened daddy! Lol…I know Adam will be a great help in the delivery room and knock this out of the ball park!
